Description :

The Contractor shall furnish all supervision, labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals necessary to accomplish the work in accordance with the Contract.  The work generally consists of but is not limited to: 

All site preparation and earthwork; excavation for structural foundations and ground grids, constructing structural foundations for the new signal relay case (A055RC), relocated traction power substation (TPSS A1), SMUD 21KV switches, and air conditioning condensing units, constructing new stairs and railing, constructing underground vaults manholes and duct banks; drainage and utilities; associated site work, including demolition and removal of existing pavement, concrete slabs and vaults; construction of temporary retaining walls and fences, clearing and grubbing, tree removal; removing non-SMUD owned electrical poles, guys and anchors, overhead electrical lines and underground electrical conduits; storm water pollution prevention plan, erosion control, dust control, noise control, and paving required to complete the Work.

The Work required on site preparation, earthwork, construction of underground facilities, and structures, and paving must be completed by SMUD’s Contractor and coordinated with SacRT’s Contractor for the relocation of TPSS A1 and installation of Signal Relay Case A055RC.

All work under SMUD’s contract must be done by communicating and coordinating with SacRT for construction associated with the light rail system.  An essential requirement is that scheduled light rail revenue service must continue without disruption as the Work progresses.  Public access must be maintained at all times.

Contract work includes street modifications within the City of Sacramento right of way. No road closures, detours, or restriping may commence until the City of Sacramento approves the required work sequence and Traffic Control Plans. Contractor traffic sequencing plan must be coordinated with the City, and must conform to the provisions of Section TC-11 “Traffic Control System” of these Technical Specifications.

Contractor must maintain access for adjacent businesses, private properties, and other construction contracts at all times during construction. Traffic control must be developed in accordance with Section TC-11, “Traffic Control System,” of these Technical Specifications. 

Other constraints may be found or implied in the General Conditions, Special Conditions, and the Technical Conditions.  It is Contractor's responsibility to review all documents for related work items to coordinate design and construction of all work.
Payment for compliance with these provisions is considered as included in the various items of work included for SMUD’s contract and no additional compensation will be allowed therefor.
