Class Description:
This class is an excellent introduction and overview of residential HVAC systems for people who have little or no experience with HVAC. This could include people going into construction, HVAC, architecture, HERS testing, building performance, and energy consulting. It is ideal for people who need to feel comfortable working with and around HVAC systems without actually working on them. It is a perfect preparatory class for HERS Rater certification training or to further an energy consultant`s understanding of residential HVAC systems. Topics include terminology, fuel types, identification of system and distribution types, pros and cons of different system types, controls (thermostats and zoning), comfort issues, design strategies, efficiencies, diagnostic testing, and installing and maintaining systems.
